Dear Pirate Football Fans,

With a new coach at the helm and a move to a new conference, the 2008 Platte County football season should be an exciting ride. While we were saddened by the retirement of Pirates football coach Chip Sherman, we are happy to welcome new coach Bill Utz. And we look forward to new rivalries in the Suburban Conference.

As you all know, the football season starts next fall, but the work going into a successful year starts now. We at the Quarterback Club would like you to be involved in helping bring about a successful season in 2008! The investments and work that we do now will pay off for all of us as we get to watch the Pirates on the field.

The Quarterback club is an organization that is open to anyone who wants to see the Pirates football program succeed.  We work year round to help support and encourage the coaching staff, as well as provide financial and other assistance to the team.  This organization is not-for-profit with no paid officers or members. The organization is made up of parents, alumni and fans as well as area businesses.  The Pirates Quarterback Club needs your support, through membership and active participation to support our student athletes.

Following are just a few of the activities supported through the year: provide high quality game film for the coaching staff immediately after each game, team T-shirts for camp, support and help provide fees for summer 7 on 7 tournaments, varsity players names on jerseys, decals for helmets, provide supplemental equipment, training supplies and coaching staff clothing, coordinate drinks and/or meals for team at home and away games and funding for additional expenses incurred during playoff season

That's a lot of support, which is why we need your help.

Meetings are held monthly, normally at the Pizza Shoppe at Platte City, and all meeting dates will be posted here. We are looking for plenty of hands to help with our most important event of the year - our annual golf tournament. The tournament, set for Aug. 1 at Shiloh Springs Golf Course, is our primary fundraiser, with funds generated from it going towards all the support previously mentioned. We are also looking for volunteers to help with meals during the season and many other duties. If you want to help, we will find a job for you.

Feel free to call me or e-mail anytime.I look forward to meeting those of you whom I don't know and seeing all of you this summer and fall.

Thank you, and GO PIRATES!!!
